If you were looking for a way to post on Instagram from desktop, officially at least, there was none. Not any more. In the past few years, the growth of Instagram as a social network has been phenomenal. When Instagram bought in the stories feature (stole from snapchat), there was no turning back. It is predominantly an image only platform at the moment.

With that being said, not everyone use their mobile phones to take pictures and edit them. Though smartphones are powerful and advanced enough to take incredible looking photographs, it is not comparable to a professional camera or the touch up work done in a professional app in your computer.

That’s where the problem arises, being a mobile-first platform, you can only post on Instagram from the mobile app. We canΒ  use the desktop version only for browsing the feed and viewing stories. Since, many of our workflows involve a computer, I was looking for a way to post on Instagram via the desktop browser and found a simple workaround for it. Without further ado, let’s get into it.

The process

#1 Open the Google Chrome browser and go to Instagram.

#2 Click F12 to open the developer console.

#3 Towards the top left corner of the developer console, there will be a button for toggling device toolbar.

#4 On the device toolbar, choose a mobile client of your choice and refresh the page by clicking F5.

#5 Voila, the mobile version of the site will be loaded, and now you can post directly from your desktop.
